I know Retribution (when I last tried it) took effect after Prot Spirit but before skills like Shielding Hands / SoA. I'd guess Pain Inverter is like that.

Even if it works you have to have maxed out title to get any decent damage from it. And even then it doesn't seem to be enough. Hope you can prove me wrong. I think the radiation field is better... AOE and DP over time.

So the question is, does Pain Inverter work with the raw damage or the reduced by armor damage? In the latter case, a 0 armor lvl could actually do insane damage with this skill.
I am starting to like this idea.. Especially on the canthan bosses, of which some do 400+ dmg with certain skills.

Eh, no real point, since Pain Inverter is capped at doing 80 damage.

well its basically like an empathy or so but works on all spells and has a longer recast time and shorter durations but higher dmg
so it would be a standard 55 build but instead of the "elite" (SS, SV, SOJ, or others) u would use inverter. this also means u can add an elite in =) (unless ur using sig of illusion)

Pain inverter
Its capped at 80 damage but if foe cast an AoE or uses a skill that hits more then one person, e.g. searing flames then he receives all the damage back! (barrage, dual shot etc)
An ele casting Sf or firestorm on u that catches a few heros or henches and he will be wiped out....
E.g. a burning spirit cast searing flames and hit 6 of my party , he took 6*80 = 480 damage. and pain inverter last for 9 secs more if he survives.
Another time a cetadon cast sliver armor on himself and my henchies were beating on him and sliver was dishing out the damage to my guys and he was copping 39 damages back it was like fireworks and he went down in a heap and hes lvl 28!
Great skill always on my bar now and i play Rit spammer so its painful bond and pain inverter and your just thinking do it just do it just cast it and your DEAD ! lol
P.s. im rank 8 for asura

At 0 Asura rank.
At rank 5 (needed for glasses and armour) it caps at 108.
At rank 8 (max currently) it caps at 128.
And when Hard Mode is implemented for GW:EN?
Rank 10 = 140 cap.
Already beaten Spoil Victor for damage. Might not have the duration, but it is both non-elite and non-class-specific (so can work with any build).

Nuuuu, the max damage it can do is completely unaffected by asura rank!

For 6...10 seconds, every time target foe deals damage that foe takes 80...140% of the damage it causes (maximum 80 damage).

Thats the PERCENT damage it deals back, not the damage cap.

......
Ok. Even I make stupid mistakes from time to time.
But still.... 80 isn't too shabby if used WITH Spoil Victor... is it? ^_^;;

Not it is not. And it can actually do MORE damage, if the monster uses a non targeting spell, such as Shockwave, or Inferno.

Ok... so it is potentially useful to all monk farming builds...
I was thinking it would definitely make an interesting addition to the Mo/D variant (which often lacks sufficient DPS to kill some enemies, necessitating the use of the Mo/N build, which itself lacks the regen to counter certain degen enemies)... possibly even negating the need for Shield of Judgement in favour of something that allows quicker attacking and less knockdown.
But yeah... Shing Jea or Starter armour required for maximum effect.
